tastecheck · samples · one product story, seven design systems

One page. Eight committed design systems.

Every sample below ships the same product story. The variable is the committed design system — so the difference you see is taste, not a new pitch.

That's the whole point of the interview: a real design system makes one product read as distinct products through structure, rhythm, type, color, and interaction. These seven don't share a section order or a skills layout — the spec-sheet leads with its index, the shipping log with a timeline, the bento demonstrates first. Not seven recolors of one skeleton. Run the repo verification gate and browser QA checklist before making release claims.

Copper / Editorial

Dark, warm, geological. Corroded-metal display serif over basalt with structural column rules — a copper/verdigris chemistry palette and an irregular tessellated bento.

Atelier / Swiss

Light, gridded, exact. An exposed 12-column subgrid the content visibly sits on, oversized vermilion index numerals, International-Typographic discipline.

Riot / Maximal

Loud, color-blocked, kinetic. A display word that bleeds into a magenta block, rotated sticker-wall collage, multi-accent on dark with a measured contrast map.

Concrete / Brutalist

Raw, mechanical, dark monochrome. A ruled blueprint spec-sheet — heavy rules, oversized mono index numerals, a dense ledger table for the skills. The only achromatic system; one hazard accent.

Clay / Soft humanist

Warm, gentle, spacious. Soft rounded cards grouped into warm clusters by theme — sage + terracotta, calm reading rhythm. Not a serif in sight.

Dispatch / Shipping log

Dark, emerald, structural. A reverse-chronological release timeline on a teal-tinted ground — the design system IS the changelog. Bricolage display, a left-rail feed with colored change-tags.

Verge / Clinical evidence

Cool, measured, evidence-led. Serif display over ice-white with teal accent and measurement annotations — a hypothesis→method→verdict reading order. The first serif system in the gallery.

Seed / Procedural specimen

Rolled, not drawn. Seed 77 generated this entire design system through tasteroll — coral/rust accent on warm dark ground with sage annotation margins. The page displays its own DNA: the seed as hero, rolled dimensions as a specimen table.
